Remember the days when we used to have full seasons? When we would actually get the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful spring and fall weather? Maybe we should blame it on Global Warming, but these days it seems as though we’re jumping straight into Summer from Winter and vice versa. Winter is officially here and the few of us that were able to briefly enjoy wearing a trench coat or other form of light outerwear are now forced to slip into down jackets and parkas to battle the fierce cold. However, a heavy jacket won’t do it alone. Here we’ll look at the five accessories that will aid you in the battle against old man winter.
Boots: A piece of multi-purpose footwear is essential in the cold weather. Stylish enough to go with a suit, but rugged enough to traverse the treacherous mounds of black ice in the city, boots are a gent’s best friend. – Judson Moc Toe Boot by Cole Haan
Socks: And how can we forget about what goes inside the boots? Thin socks in the wintertime just won’t suffice. A thick wool pair is perfect to keep those toes extra warm and comfortable. And remember; choose a pair with a design or color to add some energy to your outfit.
Hat: I’ve never really been a hat guy. It was easier to throw one on when I kept a low Caesar, but now that I’m rocking a longer, curlier do’ it’s far from one of my go to accessories. Yes having some extra hair helps to keep your noggin warm, but when the weather is minus ten below wearing a thick wool beanie is simply a no brainer.
Gloves: I love my fingerless gloves, I really do. They keep my hands fairly warm and allow me to use my iPhone seamlessly. However, on the days when the temperature is overbearingly cold, a pair of nice warm leather gloves should be your only choice.
Scarf: What’s winter gear without a scarf? A good one shields your neck from the brisk winds and can even drape over your chest if it’s long enough. Not too mention, it just looks plain cool.
