EDITOR’S RATING
Made with a great grape blend and possessing a high alcohol content, Côtes du Rhône is great Rosé option to have on hand.
June 20th, 2020 marked the official start of the summer, and absolutely nothing conveys that summer feeling better than drinking Rosé on a rooftop. Unfortunately the COVID-19 pandemic has drastically altered the landscape in the country putting a pause on many of our favorite activities including this one. With many dining establishments still closed and social distancing being our new norm does that mean that we should just let Rosé season pass us by? Absolutely not; so grab those quarantine wine glasses and pay close attention as we take you down the road with our new wine series, A Dozen Rosés.
Our first entry in this series features Côtes du Rhône ‘Figue’ Rosé by Domain de la Bastide. Originating from Visan in the Southern Rhone region of France, Côtes is described as bursting with watermelon that will have you dreaming of ripe, fresh off the tree fruit. Made with a blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah, and 15% Cinsa, the suggested pairings are summer salads with herbs, poached chicken and light cheeses. This selection definitely has fresh a fresh fruity taste to it as described. There is a slight dryness and a very light bitterness, but it is a very refreshing Rosé. With a high acidity and alcohol content of 14%, it’s the perfect option to kick off the summer with.
