EDITOR’S RATING

Although it’s light and fruity, it’s extremely bitter and not worth it in our opinion

6.5

We continue on with another Portuguese selection manufactured in Lisbon by winemakers Anselmo Mendes and Diogo Lopess called Pinta Negra. Made from a variety of Aragonez and Castelao, Pinta Negra has an alcohol volume of 13% with an acidity of 6.7 g/l. The suggested pairings are salads, pasta dishes, and barbecues. Upon the first taste we were underwhelmed; while it was light and fruity with a good acidity, it was very bitter. We paired this selection with pasta, but even after the initial pour, the bitterness was still prominent and it did not get better as the bottle went on. I personally love Portuguese Rose, however this was not one of the better options at all. This was one of the worst options that we have tasted so far and there are much better selections in the $10 price range than this.
