Powerful with a high alcohol content, the 2012 Bodega Iaccarini is best paired with a meal.
Greetings wine enthusiasts! For this installment we try out a bottle of 2012 Bodega Iacarrini. Produced in the San Rafael vineyards in Mendoza Argentina, Bodega Iaccarini is one of three lines produced by the Mendez Collado family. As we uncorked the bottle, we immediately felt the intensity upon the first sniff. Once a glass was poured out you could tell by the aroma that this was a very strong selection. The first sip was powerful; I detected some fruity traces, but also picked up on the smokiness and subtle spiciness inside. It definitely had a lot of character. Your palette will adjust once a meal into the mix as there is a more smooth, refined taste that came through, making it more enjoyable as you go through the bottle. The suggested pairings are grilled pasta, smoked foods and cheese and I highly recommend trying it with one of the aforementioned choices to maximize your experience.
I was unable to find any supplementary information about this bottle from the Bodega Iaccarini website, but I was able to pick up on the high acidity and high alcohol content. All in all a great bottle of wine for dinner; and just as good with a cheese plate while you relax.
