EDITOR’S RATING

Light, tasty and very fruity, this Malbec Rose provides a bang for your buck and should not disappoint.

Welcome back to For The Love of Malbec. Today we’re trying out a 2018 bottle of Chevalier Famaey’s Malbec Rose. Cultivated in the Cahors region of France, this bottle boasted a beautiful balance between the fat and acidity and sat at an alcohol content of 12.5%. Being that we love both types of wine, a Malbec based Rose sounded too good to pass up. We decided to pair this with pizza despite the recommendations from Chevalier, which were salad, shellfish and lighter foods. The first sip seemed very bold (like a Malbec) but didn’t have a heavy aftertaste whatsoever. It was light, dry and very fruity, as the hints of strawberry were easily detected. We poured another glass about thirty minutes after the initial one and although it wasn’t as bold as the first taste, it still had a very great flavor, was not overly sweet and very, very delicious. We’re fairly certain that the flavor would be enhanced if taken with their pairing suggestions and at cost of roughly $10 bottle it’s definitely worth a buy.
