Oaky, smooth and very enjoyable, the perfect Malbec for entertaining guests.

8.7

For this installment we feature Ruta 22, a 2013 Malbec from Argentina. Produced by winemakers the Lurton Family and imported by the Deutsch Family Wine and Spirits, this bottle was rated an 88 by Wine Spectator magazine. The first sip had a little punch to it; Ruta 22 is strong, spicy and possesses an oaky taste. By the third sip your palette should adjust as the Malbec gets progressively smoother with each ensuing sip. I must say that Ruta 22 is pretty good. With an alcohol content of 13.5 and acidity of 4.72 the strength wasn’t too overbearing and it was a well rounded enjoyable selection. Suggested pairings with this bottle are roasted meat, poultry, pasta and cheese, and I can definitely tell that this would compliment a meal very well. A good choice for your guests if you’re hosting a dinner party and I actually plan on keeping a bottle on hand.
