Do you know what the best part about Sunday’s in New York are? Brunch. I’m not talking about the ungodly two to three hour wait to sit at a restaurant that serves mediocre food. I’m talking about a modest wait time for a great food experience. One of the better Brooklyn eateries that provide an excellent brunch selection is the Clinton Hill Italian themed Aita. Opened in 2012 the small yet cozy restaurant is a favorite for locals due to the great selections and welcoming atmosphere. Aita describes their menu as one that is based on local and seasonal ingredients from both farms and green markets and this is definitely reflected in their selections. Also a great place to have lunch and diner, brunch is the focus of this article so we’ll get right to it.

Aita doesn’t have one of those limited brunch menu’s where you forced to chose from four or five options that barely move you. The choices here are diverse enough to make ordering an easy task, but not overly plentiful to leave you perplexed. Whether you’re a carnivore or vegetarian, you’ll find something that pleases. If you’re a basic breakfast person then the Hungry Beast option of two eggs, bacon, greens, a tasty blueberry pancake and crispy delectable home fries is a wonderful choice. If you’re more on the unconventional side, the Salmon Hash and Fish Burger are two flavorful dishes that are right on the money. There’s even something for the pasta lovers out there if Rosemary Pappardelle or Lasagna happens to be up your alley.

Size-wise I do feel that Aita can be a bit more generous with their portions. Nobody wants to feel full and uncomfortable after eating a meal, but you also don’t want to get hungry again after an hour and a half. Hardly a major gripe at all, but another tablespoon or two of home fries and a half cup of greens can go a long way in keeping you satiated a little longer. Reservations are available here, but walk-in wait times are fairly minimal. However in the event your wait happens to be abnormally long, sister cocktail bar The Mayflower is right next door serving craft cocktails for customers to enjoy. So when Sunday rolls around and you’re looking for a place, Aita is the destination for all of your brunch needs.
