On the search for the perfect burger, the hunt takes us to Emily, a pizza restaurant located in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. And yes I said that correctly, a pizza restaurant. Opened in 2014 by husband and wife duo Emily and Chef Matt Hyland, their restaurant named after the former features some excellent creations inspired by their love for pizza. Also on the menu is the beloved Emmy, their signature burger that has quickly become the talk of the town. Made with dry aged beef, sautéed onions, Grafton cheddar and the secret Emmy sauce on a Tom Cat Bakery pretzel bun, the Emmy is served with a generous portion of shoestring fries and cornichons atop a silver tray lined with butcher paper. Oozing with deliciousness, it’s quite simply a burger lovers dream. Each bite packs a formidable punch of flavor that pleases in every single way. And with only twenty-five of these beauties made per night, it’s highly recommended that you savor every single mouthful. How popular is this place? We walked in as they opened up at 5:00 PM on a Sunday; by 5:30 PM they were packed and by 5:45 PM all of the burgers were sold out for the evening. If that isn’t a sign of how good things are here then I don’t know what is.
We never can tell where the Burger Hunt will end up taking us, but what we do know for sure is that Emily doesn’t just live up to the hype, it surpasses it and succeeds in providing a well worthy experience.
